Eiswiese Water Park - Wellness Facility Construction
Planning & construction of panoramic saunas & old wood saunas, showers & steam baths and much more.
With over 6,000 m² and seven saunas at different temperatures, plus two steam saunas and a double Maa sauna with wood-fired heating, sunk deep into the earth, two relaxation rooms, spacious seating and relaxation areas, a fireplace corner, indoor and outdoor cold plunge pools, and eight foot baths, the Eiswiese water park is one of our largest wellness projects ever and well worth a visit for every guest! In this blog post, we would like to tell you more about the sauna world in connection with excellent, hand-selected reclaimed wood, as well as the construction of wellness facilities and steam baths.
The Eiswiese water park project is so large and complex that we cannot go into every detail, but we will give you an impression below and address various topics, letting you see behind the scenes, including the planning and construction phase, the material options, and of course some information about the sauna facilities, wellness areas and spa, as well as the modular steam bath, but also the technical possibilities and information about the control systems, which are indispensable in such complex facilities.

Steam bath - plant construction
From the shell construction to just before completion
Your installation in existing structures and spaces is absolutely no problem for us as professionals in the construction of steam baths, saunas, and wellness facilities. Here's a comparison of the shell construction phase directly compared to the final phase and the tiling of the steam bath system. The image also clearly shows how modular our systems are and how much freedom we have in designing these facilities.
Steam bath & control via Spa Control
Since no two steam baths (hammams, Turkish saunas) are alike, a personal consultation before the project begins is particularly important. For us, the type of facility, its intended use, the installation location, and of course the size, as well as the materials used, such as tiles or stone, are essential, because only then can we plan the facility. Depending on the size and scope of the steam bath, a wide variety of materials and systems are used. Solid steam baths, for example, are usually not only more expensive but also more complex to build, whereas modular systems based on acrylic or fiberglass combinations or wooden structures are faster, cheaper, and easier to install. Especially with acrylic or fiberglass combinations, there are virtually no limits to your own ideas, particularly in confined spaces, as the material is easy to work with and shape. But don't worry, every construction method is durable and absolutely reliable. For example, heating benches is much easier to plan in solid constructions. Depending on the desired result, completely customized systems can be planned and implemented.
Nothing works without a control system! With our spa control system, managed via a display panel, employees and visitors alike can conveniently control the steam room. Besides temperature, fan control, humidity, and lighting, this system leaves virtually nothing to be desired. Remote maintenance via IP from other locations is even possible. The digital signals from the touch panel are transmitted to a PLC, such as a Logo or Wago system, and converted into analog signals (e.g., 12/24/60V). These signals are then sent to smaller relays, which in turn control the larger loads for heating, humidifiers, lights, ventilation systems, and so on. All of this is only possible, however, if the sensors in the systems we install also provide the necessary data for the control system. Complex sequences or programs can be pre-programmed, while manual intervention is possible at any time.
Wellness/Spa area with fireplace
When constructing wellness facilities and spa areas, we not only supply our clients with foot baths, loungers, and other necessary building materials, but also plan these beautiful spaces with a fireplace. This can be a real wood fireplace, a gas fireplace, or a purely decorative, artificial flame.
You wouldn't believe how calming it can be to watch the flames dance while relaxing on comfortable seating and enjoying a drink or two after a sauna session. This combination is unbeatable!
The wonder of reclaimed wood!
Old wood beams, old wood boards, old wood slats and much more.
Reclaimed wood is an integral part of modern saunas and is highly sought after by our customers. Here you can compare what can be created from old beams and timbers. The resulting effect is simply amazing!
Premium reclaimed wood for a cabin look
Turning old into new! A well-worn saying, but it's the key to sauna construction. What others consider junk or old is, for us sauna builders, a true treasure, depending on the type of wood. The comparison above clearly shows what can be created from old beams alone. Depending on the condition of the wood, and provided it's stored correctly, not only can fantastic projects and saunas be realized, but real eye-catchers can be created that will delight sauna visitors and leave a lasting impression. But beware... not all reclaimed wood is created equal! Only special woods with low resin or moisture content are suitable, or are even specially treated and maintained for use in saunas such as reclaimed wood saunas, kelo saunas, sauna cabins, and log cabin saunas. The right wood in the sauna also ensures that the climate during sauna sessions doesn't change negatively or that moisture problems don't occur.
When a modern sauna meets reclaimed wood, visitors' hearts melt. Smooth and comfortable wooden sauna benches with reclaimed wood paneling on the walls and ceiling create a rustic cabin look and transport you to a unique atmosphere, allowing you to completely lose track of time while enjoying the sauna. When the lighting is perfectly adjusted and the temperature is just right (80°–120°C), the result is perfect for us. We not only use hand-selected reclaimed wood, but also new wood that has been aged to look as good as the real thing. The goal is long-lasting use at a professional, visually appealing level.

Wellness/spa area with foot baths and fireplace
A wellness area consists of more than just saunas or steam rooms; for us, it also includes appropriate shower facilities, foot baths, plunge pools, and other wellness elements. In this project, we were also able to focus on the spa area with its central fireplace, which we believe turned out very well. The nearby bar and comfortable seating invite guests to linger and relax.
If you are also interested in a high-quality foot bath, let us know, or feel free to visit our online shop.
Sauna wood & reclaimed sauna wood
There are various types of sauna wood, which should be carefully selected depending on the intended use and type of sauna. As professional sauna builders, we are happy to advise you and provide our stock for your project. Everything from a single source!
